Environmental activist, politician

Founder of the Environmental Defense of the Moscow Region and the Movement to Defend the Khimki Forest. A key figure in Russian environmental activism and democratic advocacy. Awarded the International Women of Courage Award and the Goldman Environmental Prize for her leadership in environmental protection. Named one of Foreign Policy’s Top 100 Global Thinkers in 2012. Previously a member of the Coordination Council of the Russian Opposition and a candidate for mayor of Khimki. Currently coordinates humanitarian initiatives for Ukrainian refugees.
