Alexandra Garmazhapova

Journalist, President of the Free Buryatia Foundation

Previously worked as a correspondent for Novaya Gazeta in St. Petersburg and contributed to The New Times and Echo of Moscow. In 2022, was designated a “foreign agent” by Russian authorities and later placed on a wanted list under politically motivated charges. Founded the Free Buryatia Foundation in 2022 to support residents of Buryatia in refusing military contracts and avoiding combat participation in Ukraine.
